It was only a couple years, in 2015, that same-sex couples could get married, right? Up until

then, there were over a thousand benefits that same-sex couples couldn't benefit from,

such as Social Security survivor and spousal benefits. Only recently, President Biden provided

housing and services protections for LGBTQ people, but the next president could come into office

and make those executive orders go away.

And then all of a sudden there's another precarity that the LGBTQ community has to deal with.

So if you could be kicked out of your house at any given time because somebody realizes that

you're LGBTQ and they don't want you in their house, you have no recourse. That means you should

probably save more money for an emergency savings account,

but there's also a sexual orientation and gender identity pay gap, right? We don't earn as much as

the general population, specifically straight, white, cis men. So there are a couple of variables

that our community has to deal with, and we just need to figure out how to, one, navigate those nuances,

but then also, too, the main reason why David and I do what we do is that we want more LGBTQ people to be financially secure and even thrive because the more money that we have, the more time, money, and other resources we have to continue to fight for equality.
