When your love,

child becomes a teenager, they still need your love.

They still need to feel loved.

And one of the best ways to show them that love

is to give them opportunities to serve.

Talk about the role of serving and a child's maturation.

How does that work?

Yeah, teenagers are naturally self-focused.

That's just a natural process of human nature.

Yet inside, as part of their autonomy development, their development

of independence and becoming an adult, they do enjoy opportunities to serve. They don't

just seek them out though, unless it's going to potentially benefit

them.

So give them opportunities to serve without there being a personal benefit.

Many kids have community service hours they need to do before they graduate.

So lean into those moments with your kids and help them with serving in their community.

I remember a time when in our neighborhood as a family we

planned on helping this one neighbor that was struggling to manage her lawn

her husband was was sick he had cancer, she had a mental, severe mental illness, her son also had a big illness.

They had things just were falling apart for them in their home. And you could see that.
