Summary

Do you ever feel like your mornings are more like a race against the clock than a grounded start to the day?

In this episode, we’re talking about morning routines that are as efficient as they are effective. I’m taking the covers off my own morning ritual – an updated routine born out of necessity and refined through trial and error.

I break down the intentional steps you can take to reclaim your mornings without sacrificing sleep or sanity. The best part: it isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. It's about making these practices work for YOU. I‘ve learned that having the “perfect” morning routine is really about finding one that adds to your day, rather than taking time away from it.

It isn't just about checking boxes on a to-do list. It's about embracing flexibility, finding balance, and prioritizing what truly matters in life for success. It only takes 15 minutes, but the benefits? They last a lifetime. Play the episode to hear exactly what I’ve been putting into practice, and try some techniques to update your own morning ritual.

Key topics I focus on:

  • Power of silent meditation from the comfort of my bed!

  • Strength of gratitude, and how I utilize the internal/external thought approach.

  • Energizing benefits of an icy plunge, fresh air and soaking up morning sunlight.

  • How I fuel my body and the benefits behind a protein-packed breakfast.

Enjoy!

Hello, everybody. Welcome to today's micro show. I've got a question for you. Are you tired of sort of the morning routine drama that's out there on the internet? I mean, it's fair. The phrase is, win the morning, win the day. And yet, some of these morning routines that I'm chalking up here are just, it's like, yeah, if you have three and a half hours to do all that stuff, if you don't have, you know, work, kids, whatever the, you know, pets, any other things that many of us have in life.

0:32.7

So that made me want to share with you what I'm doing right now because I, too, became overwhelmed

0:39.3

with all that stuff. I've put out some very popular videos in the past, and those I, they still

0:44.5

stand. I think they're very, very valuable. And yet, I have found myself streamlining those.

0:52.3

I still like that, the routines that are out there on the internet,

0:55.2

specifically on my YouTube channel. And yet, I truly only do those, maybe to the letter of those,

1:02.3

maybe once or twice a week, because like you, I'm busy. The mornings are often chaotic,

1:08.4

trying to, you know, get up and get out of the house or whatever your thing is.

1:12.4

Therefore, I wanted to tell you what I'm actually doing, I would say again, six out of seven

1:19.0

days every week and how I can do this really, really quickly and still start my day off on the

1:25.9

front foot because I believe deeply in this as a concept.

1:29.6

So without messing around, I'm going to dive right into it. I've updated my morning routine

1:33.4

to begin every day with meditation. Now, many of you know that I do transcendental meditation.

1:39.8

This is not required. But I also pair this. This is my sort of one of the big revelations is I pair this with a gratitude practice.

1:48.8

And in order to shorten the time that it takes and still get what I think is like 90% of the benefit is I combine a meditation with a visualization slash gratitude practice. And I do this from bed.

2:04.9

Now, if you are a TM expert or, you know, you're a professional psychologist, you might have some

2:09.7

issues with this. But let me tell you, I wake up, I'm groggy, I roll around a little bit,

2:14.0

I scoot myself up and sitting into an upright position. I can do this without waking up my dog,

2:19.1

waking up my wife, and I carve out 15 minutes for myself in that state right there. I sit up,

2:27.6

close my eyes, fold my hands on my lap, and I go into a very simple meditation. Now, to me,

2:34.0

it is not important what kind of meditation

2:35.7

you do. And I do not need to, I feel like in today's episode, do a treatise, an entire
