| 0:00.0 | To be the kind of person who dies saying no to God is the only real tragedy in life. |
| 0:05.5 | How many of you saw the Mike Schmitz? And this is a sense presents. There's this upcoming canonization |
| 0:09.5 | of these two bros. Here's your frasadi and the other is Carlo Acutus. Right now, they are both |
| 0:15.6 | declared blessed. They're they're beatified, but they're going to be declared saints. It's one of those |
| 0:20.5 | situations where you're like, why do people so captivated by these two? I think one of the reasons is because they're kind of recent. They're relatively recent saints. They're also relatively young saints. And so there's something about this that just, wait, is sainthood possible? Yes, by God's grace. A saint is someone who says yes to God and just never stop saying yes. |
| 0:38.3 | So it's not a person who's perfect, not a person who does heroic things. It's the kind of person who just says yes to God in his grace and then never stop saying yes. After they sin, they see yes to God's grace again. After they fall, they see yes to God's grace again. After they skip prayer, they say yes to God's grace again. grace again, a same as someone who says yes to God and then just never stop saying yes. |
| 0:55.9 | But Carlo Acutis and Pierre-Josur Fassadi, they're going to be capital S-T period saints. What's the process for that? Great question, Camper. A couple things to keep in mind is the church doesn't like make saints. It simply declares a person to be a saint. What's that mean? It declares that they lived a life |
| 1:11.6 | of heroic virtue and that by God's grace, they are in heaven and they're interceding for us here |
| 1:18.0 | on earth. The first step is being declared a servant of God. It doesn't happen to like five years |
| 1:22.0 | after a person's death. It can be waived in some cases, but right now it's about five years, roughly. |
| 1:27.1 | And any person can request any person or organization or diocese, whatever, can request to have a person's life be investigated. But only a bishop can actually put forth the case. If that case is put forth and they're accepted, immediately that person is a servant of God, servant of God, whoever. |
| 1:44.8 | We have a guy. We have a guy. We have a priest in our diocese. Name Monsignor Boo. Don't be scared. It's B-U-H. Monsignor Boo. He was a pretty remarkable priest in our diocese. He founded a bunch of parishes all over the upper north-northeast corner of Minnesota. and our bishop has put forth his case. |
| 2:01.6 | So if it's accepted, he's declared, youortheast corner of Minnesota. And our bishop has put forth his case. So if it's |
| 2:02.2 | accepted, he's declared, you know, servant of God. Now, this stage involves investigating a person's |
| 2:08.0 | life and basically saying, were they faithful? Or is there evidence, as they mentioned before, |
| 2:12.5 | of heroic virtue? Like, did they live life consistent with the teachings of Jesus Christ |
| 2:16.7 | in the Catholic Church? |
| 3:07.9 | There's a bunch of people like that, like Monsignabu, Father Emil Capon is one, Dorothy Day is one of those people. That's the servant of God. That's that first step. The second step is when they're declared venerable. This is where the church really looks for heroic virtue in a person's life. Their life is investigated by the Vatican. And I believe this is the stage where they have the devil's advocate, right? The devil's advocate is the one who's like, okay, wait, you say all these people have reported that this person on heroic virtue, let's really find out, I don't think it's called that anymore. It's called something else. Let's put it there. But they're trying to find out as this person really lived the life of heroic virtue. Now, if approved by the Pope and it found out that yes, they are, then they're declared venerable. Think of it like this. Think of it as like making it to the semifinals. So, like you've passed a couple of these stages. You're in the playoffs. You've made it pretty far. And there's people who are vulnerable at Fulton Sheen. He's an example of someone whose case was accepted. He was servant of God, Fulton Sheen, he's been investigated by |
| 3:11.3 | the Vatican and made it past that stage. And now he's venerable Fulton Sheen. Now, after this stage, |
| 3:16.4 | the third step is this, is if there's a miracle that is attested and verified to have belonged to the intercession of this person who is deceased, |
| 3:29.7 | then they're declared blessed. That's called the process of beatification. Now, this is only in the |
| 3:35.0 | case of those who are not martyrs. Listen, you died for the Lord. You're good. You don't need any |
