One of those knots is the Slim Beauty. The Slim Beauty is a really cool knot

because it comes out of, it's one of these things

that was a true worldwide viral sensation even before the internet.

My friend Simon Becker and I were messing around

with different knots and he was trying to come up

with a way that we could eliminate the Bemini twist from our TARPin

setups because the Bemini twist would take a long time.

I used to tie a Bemini twist on one end of a line. There's your IGFA leader, a

Bimini twist on the other end of the line, and I would just tie these over and

over and over again. I used to put them on a coat hanger and I would have

hundreds of bimini twists hanging in the closet.

And then what we would do with that is that we would then tie a Huffnegal knot from the

bimini twist to the leader, and then we would store these leaders in a leader

stretcher box that would keep tension on the monophylliment, and you had a fly, you had the whole thing ready to go.

Super slick, but it took a tremendous amount of time to prepare for that.
