How over the course of the regular season and the postseason, the Toronto Blue Jays offense, for whatever reason, scores a crap ton of runs at Rogers Center against the New York Yankees. I think the number I added up to

was about 54, but at Yankee Stadium, in the six games they've played here, they've scored 18.

You didn't count the postseason. I did. So it's now 57. Seventy-seven. 76, 77 runs over the course of

nine games. It's actually absurd.

So Aaron Boone flirted yesterday with the idea of changing the New York Yankee lineup, doing something different.

And one of the big things possibly was starting Paul Goldschmidt because A. Ben Rice did not look good in the first two games in Toronto. And Shane Bieber has a history. And it's a small history, but Paul Goldschman has had success again, Shane Bieber. I brought this up to you guys yesterday. And I know that Sean has poo-pooed the idea of head-to-head matchups. What does it really mean? Again, it's only three for six, so it's not a massive size. It's still 500. But it is 500. He is a better defender at first base, and we know Ben Rice has struggled over the last couple of weeks. Plus, the other thing I should point out about Bieber is this season he's at reverse splits. So for whatever reason, righties have had more success against him than lefties. Right. So let's start right there.

Right. So let's start right there. Right. This one feels like a no-brainer because he's a veteran, meaning goalie, he's a veteran. He's been around for a long time. No matter what situation you put him in, you feel like you can count on him. So even though he didn't play in the first two, you can throw him in and feel like he can perform. And you know he's going to perform defensively because he always does. And he have a better shot than a slumping Ben Rice, even though it's only a short slump, Ben Rice, to get something done in this game.

And keep in mind, Paul Goldschmidt's four for seven in the postseason. I think that's a no-brainer? Absolutely. You'd go with Goldie over Rice? I would go with Goldie. What say you? I would play Goldie over Rice, and I would also further that by saying, I'd still entertain and the idea of putting rice behind the plate with Rodon tonight and sitting wells tonight.

That's an interesting option.

Hasn't been mentioned a lot, but, you that Rodon has been called by Ben Rice five times this year and his pitch to pretty successfully during those games. There's also one more change I'd actually make. Go ahead and I'll let you know if the changes happen. I don't think they'd make this in a million years, but because we keep hearing about this weapon off the pinch that we can never seem to deploy,

I'd actually play Caboero at third tonight and hope that, you know what, he gets on base, let him go be a pest, steal a base or two, and that could be the difference in a run in this game. It's interesting because we saw that in the Red Sox series. Yep. Right? Because an M.M.M. Man came in and made a great defensive play. So it kind of worked for both sides of it.
