So that was first lady Melania Trump.

She chaired hours long UN Security Council meeting.

First lady to ever do that.

The theme was children, technology, and education in conflict. It focused on how to protect children and promote learning in war-torn areas.

And I think the real story here isn't that Melania Trump chaired this meeting

of the United Nations Security Council. It's that people were shocked that she actually

could. We often treat First Ladies like they're decorative, just pieces of furniture

until they step into something substantive.

And then we act like it's some kind of glitch in the system.

Like we're surprised that she could actually do that, chairing a meeting, even a long,

complex one.

It is largely procedural, but it's about structure.

It's about tone. It's about tone.

It's about stamina.

And all things that she seemed to do relatively well.

Yeah.

What I found most interesting about this story is that it turns out she is not the first, first lady to chair a council at the United Nations.
