Summary
Welcome to HOOVERING, the podcast about eating. Host, Jessica Fostekew (Guilty Feminist, Motherland) has a frank conversation with an interesting person about gobbling; guzzling; nibbling; scoffing; devouring and wolfing all up… or if you will, hoovering.
I’ve had this Hoovering in the tank for a while now and I’e saved it up because we’re on the cusp of Mother’s Day. It’s my lovely Mum! Nicky Suttle. She’s a child protection trainer and former nurse and Head of Care in various schools and as putrid as it sounds and frankly is, one of my best friends and favourite people. I hope you like it.

Tickets to see Hoovering LIVE in 2019
The next live hoovering is on
Saturday 2nd May at the beautiful MACHYNLLETH FESTIVAL at 7.15pm. Come come come!
Then on 13th May we’re up in Hull at the first and best ever official NORTHERN PODCAST FESTIVAL
Honourable Mentions
My Mum obviously isn’t interested in anyone following her on social media or anything but she wanted to raise awareness and funds for our wonderful friend Kate Bidwell whose doing a FUNDRAISER for the amazing charity HOPE FND - do tuck in if you’ve got any spare pennies please!
I would very much love to have you come and see my stand up show HENCH, which now up and off on TOUR all around the UK, IRELAND and MELBOURNE. Come! All my tickets are on sale now and they’re selling out like wildfire.
Outside of that I’ll be doing new material gigs and I’m always sticking new dates on MY WEBSITE so have a check. The Hoovering Live dates go on there too.
We ate a really fit fit fit soup which will be in my guest recipes in April if you’re one of my Patrons but for general reference, Mum got it out of a now ancient and probably stolen copy of the SAINSBURYS MAGAZINE.
And this little beauty is the HAMLYN ALL COLOUR COOKBOOK by Mary Berry and others.
I’m including this because I like to think there’s maybe someone in the universe who has access to podcasts but also hasn’t heard of

| 0:14.7 | Welcome to Hoovering, the podcast about eating. I'm Jessica Bostigue. I love eating as much as anything |
| 0:25.6 | else in the world, but also it sometimes brings me conflict, shame and all sorts of other things that are rubbish. |
| 0:33.5 | It's complicated and I think fascinating. This is a conversation with an interesting soul, not just about food, but about gobbling it up, or if you will, Hoover. |
| 0:46.8 | Hello, hello, hello. |
| 0:48.4 | So, welcome Hooverers. |
| 0:50.9 | These are mad old times, aren't they? |
| 0:52.9 | So listen, as much as humanly possible, |
| 0:56.9 | I need you to know is my intention to keep this podcast up. And I want to talk to people who have a |
| 1:01.8 | clue, what our eating lives are going to be like over the next few months and or who can offer |
| 1:07.0 | advice or help that's genuinely useful. But most of the time, I'm going to be looking |
| 1:12.2 | to talk to people and provide the usual light, cheerful, eating-themed relief from the theme |
| 1:18.4 | of horror that is most of our lives for a bit for now. Starting today's episode, actually, |
| 1:23.7 | it's Mother's Day in two days. If you're listening to this on the day it goes out, |
| 1:28.4 | and so for a special treat, I'm hoovering in this episode with my actual glorious mum, |
| 1:34.7 | Nikki Suttle. She is my brilliant friend and she is also the person I inherited my |
| 1:41.0 | obsessive recipe browsing addiction from. |
| 1:55.8 | So in terms of the podcast generally, I am doing things at the moment where, well, my brilliant editor, Emma, is also helping me set up ways of remote recording the podcasts in the future. |
| 2:01.0 | And where it's safe and possible, maybe still recording them in person with people if I'm sat very far away from them outdoors and we're all well but whatever we will see I'm on the case |
| 2:07.2 | the next live show was meant to be at the macfest in May which has sadly been cancelled this year |
| 2:12.1 | for obvious reasons and I wanted to say something as well quickly about food banks if you use them or you need help getting food to your home, do. |
| 2:20.6 | Fuck any shame. |
