Andrea Nguyen, author of Into the Vietnamese Kitchen, shares her recipe for cool Vietnamese noodle salads. Susan Glasser, former editor in chief of Foreign Policy, talks about the ways in which food is used as a political tool from the story "Eat, Drink, Protest,"  which appeared in Foreign Policy's food issue (Glasser is now editor of Politico). The Wall Street Journal's Katy McLaughlin explains her story on edible fashion. Jane and Michael Stern visit Nick's Kitchen in Huntington, Indiana.

cream school. This ice cream is easy to make at home with a $45 ice cream maker, no less. Now,

you're going to meet a woman who step by step figured out a goof-proof formula and built a business

on it. Everything you add to ice cream plays a role in the final texture. And when I created this recipe, I was trying to mimic the exact texture and the body of the ice cream that I get in my professional kitchen with professional equipment, with pasteurizers, homogenizers, really expensive gelato machines from Italy, and very, very cold freezers.

At home, that's very difficult because you have limitations in your home kitchen.

So I started from the texture and consistency that I wanted and worked backward.
