Okay, here we go. For nearly eight years on and off, Curtis Gamble slept sitting up at the bus

station in downtown Fullerton. That bench right there, that's why I used to say it, number three,

right there. Before that, Curtis drove a bus for 14 years, until he got fired for being late, although he

thinks he was really fired because of his work organizing drivers.

Then Curtis drove a taxi until the police took his car away for driving with expired tags

and a suspended license. And that's when Curtis

lost his home. He began spending most of his days riding with his bus driver friends, and then

trying to catch a few hours sleep on a bench at the downtown Fullerton bus station. That's the

same place where Kelly Thomas was killed by police in 2011. Now, we could walk around this way or we can walk around this way.

I meet up with him there on a warm, late summer evening in 2018.
