We've been going through Acts, which is a history.

In fact, that's what the word Acts means in Greek.

Prahease means history, usually viewed as a history of the apostles,

but I'm viewing it as a history of the action of the Holy Spirit of God.

And we have been going through week by week looking at the way the Holy Spirit of God. And we have been going through week by week

looking at the way the Holy Spirit is operating

through the early apostles.

Now, here's the thing, and here's the lesson

that I think is the lesson we really should receive.

People tend to look at what the Holy Spirit has done historically,

and they tend at that point to make that a standard practice,

as though that's all the Holy Spirit does.

Like if the Holy Spirit did a certain thing at a certain time during the lives of the

apostles, that's what the Holy Spirit does.

If the Holy Spirit did a certain thing in a certain city.

When Paul did a certain thing, that's what the Holy Spirit does.

And you tend to take those examples and say, well, that's the way we learned about the Holy Spirit,

and that's what we should be expecting today in our Christian walk. And nothing could be further from the truth because there is nothing normative about the action of the Holy Spirit at all. You can't look at what
