Hey, Strong Women, it's Celine Yeager, long-time health and fitness journalist and co-author, along with Dr. Stacey Sims of Roar, a book that shows how active women can work with their female physiology for their best performance.

Because I've learned a couple of things. A, despite the fact that you may think that all those things that menopausal women have been talking about your whole life won't actually ever happen to you?

B, when your metabolism goes into a tailspin and you find yourself projectile sweating at 3 a.m., gaining weight seemingly overnight, fighting off free-range anxiety, and staring

It's hard to find resources to help you.

Believe me, I know I'm not alone swimming in the Sea of Unknowns.

When war came out four years ago, our primary goal was simply to normalize being an active

woman with female hormones and physiology.

We wanted to encourage women to talk about their periods and to understand how fluctuating

hormones impact performance. We wanted women to know that it wasn't their fitness giving them

trouble. It was their physiology and that they could work with it to optimize that performance.

We included a chapter on menopause, but it became very clear that one chapter wasn't enough.

There were a whole lot of women who felt left behind, specifically those entering their perimenopausal and menopausal years, which for some can start in the late 30s.

Those women even started an online hashtag, hashtag forgotten athletes.
