2020. Today's lecture is the fifth in the series, which looks at the more recent history of the

SSPX, covering the past 20 years from 2000 to 2020.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, amen. So today, dear faithful,

we will conclude our story of the history of the society, our little

series of sermons on that story.

The last time we spoke about the 1990s, that decade.

And so today to conclude, we will speak about the year 2000 up until the present time, only being able to focus on a few things, but nevertheless, we will conclude our story in that way.

You may remember some of you that in the year 2000, the society organized a pilgrimage to Rome which was attended by

by hundreds of priests and sisters and about 5,000 of the faithful it was an very impressive

and very beautiful occasion which created quite an impression on the people of Rome and the the authorities of the church.

And soon after that pilgrimage, the authorities of the church, made contact with the society, which obviously things had been quite distant, if you will, during the 1990s, this decade after the Episcopal consecrations.

And so Rome makes this overture towards the society, and the superiors of the society, meet and discuss the question and they decide that

they will ask for two conditions which will be preconditions for resuming these discussions

and the first would be the liberty of the mass so that Rome would admit that any priest of the Latin right is free to say the traditional mass.

That would be a gesture not only of good faith, but also a great benefit for the church as a whole.

So that is the first condition.

The second being that Rome would admit that the excommunications leveled against

Archbishop Lefebvre, Bishop Castra Meyer, and the four bishops in in 1988 would admit that those excommunications
