Summary

Rich Hribar (@LordReebs) of Sharp Football Analysis and Shawn Siegele (@ff_Contrarian) join Pat Kerrane (@PatKerrane). The guys kick off the show by discussing the Patriots release of Cam Newton, making Mac Jones their clear starter. They then discuss hinge points of the 2021 season. The outcomes that, if they occur, will fundamentally alter the fantasy landscape. Will Austin Ekeler have a goal line role? Will Seattle finally install a modern offense? Will Dallas and Cincinnati live up to the hype? What if Detroit is competent and pass heavy? And what if Kyle Pitts is ready to take on a major role in year one?

Welcome to a good football show. I'm your host, Acaraine. With me today is Rich Rebar of Sharp Football Analysis and Sean Siegel of Road of his. Guys, how's it going?

0:26.0

Awesome. We got some great stuff to go over here. I mean, Cam Newton gone. So now, you know, we're all set. We can unleash all of our players.

0:34.0

Yeah. So thank you. Thank you, Sean for that quick segue to the first topic here, which is going to be the Cam Newton release.

0:41.0

Then we are going to be getting into a larger topic, hinge points for the 2021 season. So these are the types of things that can completely change fantasy season.

0:55.0

It's one kind of simple adjustment to what we think is going to happen. So that'll be fun to get into before we do that.

1:02.0

Sean, you brought it up. I'll throw it to you. What is your take on the Cam Newton release and now the knowledge that Mac Jones is going to be the week one and full season starter for the Patriots?

1:12.0

Well, I think that Mac Jones instantly becomes a pretty compelling quarterback and super flux. And so if you're playing that format and we know that it's on the rise, people love it.

1:22.0

I definitely want to be aware of him there. It also makes guys like Jacobi Myers, Nelson Aguilar, more interesting late.

1:29.0

I mean, they're still not going to move into this range where their priority targets. But I think now you can play some of those guys.

1:36.0

But running back is where this offense is really built. And Damien Harris now without the goal line touchdowns cultured becomes someone who could be a little bit more dynamic.

1:48.0

I mean, he's buried in kind of this ADP range. We don't really expect anything out of him.

1:52.0

Even if he plays well, he's not a great fantasy starter. I think that that changes, but maybe doesn't change enough.

2:00.0

It's still these guys behind him that are really interesting. James White, someone obviously had a down season last year with Cam Newton also had some personal things that knocked him a little bit.

2:09.0

And yet he was still very good. And so I'm kind of interested to hear what Rich has to say on James White. Can he jump back now?

2:18.0

We know in terms of passes to running backs. We'd like these old guys like groupries, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, who are going to make these mistakes are going to take sacks.

2:26.0

They understand if their guys are covered is dump it off and you get this avalanche of targets to the backs.

2:32.0

Mac Jones may not be that, but he's still definitely a lot better than Cam Newton.

2:36.0

Yeah, what's interesting about Mac Jones is he got kind of dunked on through the process because he's not going to be a runner from a fantasy stance.

2:41.0

But you look at his athletic testing numbers. They were actually really good. He was a lot better athlete that he's given credit for for the dad bod and the pictures of the cigar that he has laying out.

2:51.0

But he actually wasn't a pretty good athlete. He's not just a complete statue back there either.

2:55.0

I think what this does, it opens the door for a lot of things.

2:59.0

First of all, like the release of Cam Newton, the old COVID issues aside, you can't have a backup that is unvaccinated.
