I'm John John that's with my colleague Jonathan Schanser, Vice President of the Foundation for

the Defense of democracies.

The North, the War of the North, it's been called on and off for many years now.

Hezbollah has been peppering the North of Israel with lingering munitions. That's what we call drones these days, as well as missiles, anti-tank

missiles, making it impossible for up to 100,000 people to return to their homes.

Something must be done the idea has been saying for weeks.

Now there's indication that the idea is moving.

Why?

Because of this headline in Beirut. U.S. envoy Hoekstein urges de-escalation between Israel Hezbollah.

The quote is, achievable and urgent.

Jonathan, Mr. Hoekstein was sent first to Jerusalem to meet with the Prime Minister and

leaders of the defense industry also to meet with the opposition, to talk about the

Hezbollah threat, and then to Beirut Beirut who can he talk to in Beirut he does

he does he does he can convey in some fashion well wishes to ausrala?

Who's in charge in Beirut that can in any fashion help this story?

I think it's a good question, John.

I don't know who's in charge in Beirut I don't think anybody does this is a

inconclusive government for years running now

a a state that has run up a debt of something like $200 billion and this is a country with no exports to speak of.

It is a basket case of a country.

And so his balla has taken full control of it politically,

militarily.
