Boeing is looking for a new CEO.

The current boss, Dave Calhoun, announced his resignation yesterday and said he will step down at the end of the year.

This comes after a series of mishaps at Boeing, culminating in a safety failure on board in Alaska Airlines flight in January,

when a door plug blew out of one of Boeing 737

Max Nine aircraft while the plane was in flight.

Calhoun lasted just over four years in the CEO seat.

His predecessor, Dennis Mullenberg, didn't do much better.

He did five years.

He was fired in 2019, after two fatal accidents involving the 737 max. Both men were long-time industry employees.

Moolenburg was an engineer and a Boeing lifer, and Calhoun trains as an accountant and came

up in General Electric.

So who will the Boeing Board pick now?

Candidates will need political skills to deal with

irritator regulators and customer service acumen to handle airlines that might not be so inclined to buy their

planes anymore. They'll also need PR chops to handle a wary public.
