This is a special unholy episode. I'm Yonit Levy in Tel Aviv. Keith Siegel, an Israeli originally

from North Carolina, was taken captive by Hamas on October 7th with his wife, Aviva. They were

abducted from their home in Kibbutz Kfarazha. Aviva was released in the first hostage deal back

in November 2023 and was confident he would soon follow. It would eventually take

484 days. Right before his release on Saturday, I spoke to Aviva for unholy about Keith's long-awaited

return and about her own experiences as a hostage in Gaza. Here's that conversation.

We're talking on a Wednesday afternoon Israel time.

It's quite a surreal feeling that you are waiting. You and your family are actually waiting to know if Keith is on the list to be released on Thursday. Could you talk us through

what that feels like, that sort of the intensity of those emotions, just waiting now?

I don't think there's words for what I feel right now.

I just can say that it's hard for me to sit.

It's hard for me to concentrate.

And it feels like that I'm not really here.

I'm like part of me is vanished.

And it's a feeling that I've never felt before.

In a second, I'm very happy and then I'm nothing.

I disappear.

I don't know.

It's very strange.
