This series in the book of Hebrews is off to an amazing start in month number one in January.

Any one of them that you miss, we're covering every verse as we're walking through the book of

Hebrews, but we're talking about some dense theological ideas.

The theme of Hebrews is perseverance and gratitude, that you would persevere in your faith by remaining

grateful for what Jesus has done. And it's written to a small church that is experiencing

persecution and rejection. Unlike anything, I think anyone in our church family in America has

ever faced, but we don't know who wrote it and we don't know a lot of the details around it.

We just know what's on the page. And and at this point we're in one large conversation where the writer is fleshing

out this statement today if you hear the voice of god do not harden your heart and the whole

idea of last week is that whatever day today is if god is, you choose your response to what is getting revealed.

The hardening of the heart happens when you choose to close yourself off to what God is revealing

by choosing unbelief over bold faith. But now what he's going to do, as we turn the page into what

is next is he's going to take it from today if you hear his voice don't harden your heart

in response but listening to his voice actually produces the rest your soul desires so today's sermon

is called enter god's rest enter god's rest and when i told Courtney that was the title of today's

sermon she kind of chuckled

yesterday because this is the opposite of what a lot of life has felt like for us the past month.

With four kids, 21 days of prayer, constantly being on the move, fighting off sicknesses and all the

things that come with the month of January. It's like that is like the thing I think our souls

need the most, but the thing that

feels the furthest away from reality. And then I said, well, that must have been exactly

how it felt to the Hebrew church where their reality looks nothing like a restful, serene
