In today's solo episode, we take a deep dive into the impact our dysfunctional upbringings have our money and abundance. It comes as no surprise that dysfunctional family systems often result in financial dysfunction . Given money’s influence on every aspect of our lives and its connections to emotions like comfort & security, dysfunctional family systems often result in financial dysfunction - over-spending, compulsive debting & underearning. Healing our relationship with money requires that we look at the conscious and subconscious messages we received related to money during our childhoods and understand how this may be showing up in the way interact with money as adults.

0:34.2	You guys, I think that this is the very first episode that I am using a microphone properly.
0:42.7	What are we? We're 60 something episodes in and yesterday was the first time ever that I googled how to use a microphone properly and I learned some shit.
0:52.7	So supposedly you're not supposed to speak directly into the top of the microphone, didn't know that.
0:59.2	You're also not supposed to speak directly into the microphone at all, also did not know that.
1:06.7	Okay, so today you're just getting me and we are diving deep into a topic that honestly I would rather not dive deep into,
1:18.7	which is exactly why I'm doing this episode.
1:21.2	You're talking about a relationship with money.
1:24.2	Now, y'all know me, I'm an open book, I'm shameless, I will tell you all my cringiest, most embarrassing stories, my dating stories,
1:33.7	about peeing my pants that are Ruth's Chris, I don't give a shit, I'm not embarrassed, I'm not ashamed.
1:39.2	However, when it comes to this money shit, it's a little bit of a different story for me.
1:45.7	You know, I've shared some about the financial wreckage that I created during my active adult child disease.
1:54.7	But this is something that I don't really like sharing about and it's something that I would prefer y'all not know about me.
2:06.2	You know, there is an element of shame here that doesn't really exist in the other ways
2:13.7	that my adult child disease manifests and I have some thoughts on why that is that I'll be getting into.
2:21.2	So the other day I stumbled upon this video from Lisa Romano, she's a codependency guru, a therapist.
2:30.2	And so she had this video and it was about money trauma, our relationship with money, the impact our childhoods have on our relationship with money.
2:39.2	And you know, nothing that she said was new information, but for some reason when I was listening to it, I had a visceral reaction.
2:47.7	And the thought that came to me was there is more to unpack here.
