Well, hello and welcome back. Welcome to another headline episode where we are covering environmental news headlines in 15 minutes or less. Today's show is split into two parts. In the first part of

today's show we're discussing two stories related to plastic and then in the

second part of today's show we are discussing the headlines as they

relate to extreme weather and extreme heat. So let's get it to the first story

today which is a bit of a feel good story, a cautiously optimistic story,

and it has to do with the creation, or the experiment, I should say say of creating road pavement made of plastic waste.

It's a surprise to no one here in America that we have an infrastructure problem. A potential solution to our

crumbling infrastructure woes could come out of the University of Missouri

where researchers are working to make road pavement made out of all that plastic waste.

The University's Mizzu Asphalt Pavement and Innovation Lab partnered with the Missouri Department of Transportation

and created a test road using recycled materials along a section of interstate 155.
