The following was a conversation held at Zivis Bookshop, my independent bookstore in Santa Monica, California.

It was between Hazel Hayes and Aparnan Churla.

Hazel Hayes is an Irish-born, London-based author and director who for many years wrote primarily for the screen.

Having graduated from Dublin City University with a degree

in journalism, she went on to study creative writing at the Irish Writers' Center before honing her

craft as a screenwriter through numerous short films and sketches, her eight-part horror, prank

me, one series of the year at SITC, as well as the award for excellence and storytelling at Buffer

Festival in Toronto. Out of Love was her first novel,

and better by far is coming out soon. Aparnan Nancherla is a comedian and general silly-billy. Her sense

of humor is dry, existential, and absurd, with notes of uncalled-for whimsy. Think a wine you didn't

order. Her book, Unreliable Narrator, Me, Myself and Imposter Syndrome, is currently

available. She was also on my podcast for this book, but it was really cool to hear her talk to Hazel. You can hear Aparna as the voice of Moon on Fox's the Great North, or have heard her as the voice of Hollyhawk on BoJack Horseman.
