I went to my local gas station this morning where a man, I think he's a Sikh, I'm not sure actually, but he usually greets me and is very warm and today he had his window closed because he was protecting himself from other humans.

And that creates this greater sense of other, of stranger.

And it made me really sad that he didn't feel safe.
