Summary

Surprise! We have a Monday episode for you! On today’s show my friends Kathryn Freeman and Scott Sauls join me. You will enjoy hearing from both of them as we talk about things like how to engage in policy work that may not fully align with our Christian worldview, and how to fill a hostile world with gentleness. We jump right into these conversations and our hope is that you would be encouraged to view every issue through the lens of God’s word. Hey friends, it's me Jamie, host of the show. Yes, it's a Monday. It's not a Wednesday

0:11.4

or Friday, but we have two special edition shows that we wanted to bring to you. To say

0:16.0

that 2020 has been a hard year would be quite possibly the understatement of the year.

0:20.6

I think it's also safe to say this upcoming election has proven to be a difficult event

0:24.9

as well. There's so much hatred and disagreements around both parties. So many people have been

0:31.4

canceling each other out because their decisions on who to vote for look different than theirs.

0:36.2

Many people I've heard are claiming that if you vote for fill in the blank, then you're

0:40.6

a real Christian. Shaming, slandering, bickering, it is all too much.

0:46.2

Here at the Happy Hour we wanted to bring you four conversations. We think these conversations

0:50.2

are important and they're worth it. These conversations are with people who believe

0:53.8

that we can be different than what the rest of the world is doing and acting and how we

0:58.4

react to this election year. Listen, the truth of the matter is there are Christians that

1:02.4

will vote for President Trump and there are Christians that will vote for Vice President

1:06.2

Joe Biden. We need to be a people group that is unified by our belief in the saving grace

1:11.4

of Jesus Christ more than our belief in the ability for a person or a party to save us.

1:17.6

I ask my friends, Catherine Freeman, Scott Sal's, Amy Wolfe and Eugene Cho to join us

1:22.2

on these two special edition podcasts episodes to answer questions that you as a listener

1:27.2

sent to us. Questions like, how do we vote with a biblical worldview? How do we have disagreements

1:32.8

without dehumanizing our friends? How do we love our neighbors well when we believe

1:37.4

two different ideas about how things should be? How do we vote when we don't 100% agree

1:42.3

with the other party? Should we vote for a party based on one policy? How do we bring peace

1:48.5

and gentleness to our communities when it feels so volatile? Those questions plus more
