To any tutor fanatic, the name Hans Holbein is quickly recognized

as one of the most prolific and exceptional artists at the court of Henry VIII.

Today, co-host Melanie Taylor visits with Dr. Kate Hurd about some of the most magnificent images he's produced for us.

On behalf of the podcast, I'm interviewing Dr. Kate Hurd, senior curator of the Royal Collections Trust.

Dr. Hurd is the curator behind the five-star exhibition Holbein at the Tudor Court, currently on at the Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace, until the 14th of April,

Previously, she has curated Maria Merion's Butterflies, an exhibition of wildlife

observations painted in the late 17th century.

Maria Sabilla Merion was a German artist who is now recognised as one of the earliest

entomologists, naturalists and scientific illustrators. In 2012, Dr. Hurd curated the Northern

Renaissance Dura to Holbein, another five-star exhibition and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

She's listed on IMDB as appearing in the 2014 two-part series, The German

Kings, Who Made Britain, and a one-off program aired in 2009, examining Henry VIII, patron

and plunderer, which celebrated the 500th anniversary of his accession. Dr. Hurd, welcome to the show and congratulations on another
