Summary

| 1:26.8 | Here in the penthouse, sleeping. The doors leading to the terrace were open. |
| 1:36.2 | Suddenly I was awakened by a queer, whirling noise that sounded like the flapping of wings. I opened my eyes. |
| 1:46.0 | Moonlight filled the room. It was one of those clear, cloudless nights. |
| 1:50.0 | But the wind moaned and growled, like weeping women. |
| 1:57.0 | Somewhere, a dog howled. |
| 2:00.0 | I sat up, peered into the green light of the moon. I could see nothing at first. I lay down again. My eyes were half closed. I heard it again. The sound of wings beating on the air. |
| 2:18.3 | I told myself, it was nothing until out of the queer, green shadows that surrounded me like a mist. |
| 2:26.3 | I saw a pair of blood-red eyes close to my face. |
| 2:31.3 | No, they weren't human eyes. They were rimmed with green and they glittered like glass in the dark. |
