We have a case from Australia today.

Our witness is Susan, a librarian.

The year is 1988, Susan says.

We are in the city of Maitland, about two hours from Sydney.

I'm 22.

My younger sister, Megan, is 16, and we decide to do what is known here as a Macca's run, buying a McDonald's. It's about 10pm

and very dark. As I drove us home, Megan and I saw exactly the same thing. In a fetch of trees

at the side of the road, we saw an illuminated silvery

male figure with a face that might be described as goat-like or evil. It was about 10

meters away and looked directly at both of us. It was not a friendly look. I drove at 100 kilometres an hour all the way home.

I am now much older and I never, ever drive past that spot.

But I was amazed when I recently found this newspaper article.

From 1878, a ghost near Maitland. The apparition was reported in the vicinity

of our encounter. So it must have been there for some time. There is a new housing estate

there now and I often wonder if there will be more encounters in the future. Thank you, Susan.

That image of a goat-faced man will haunt my nightmares.
