You are about to listen to a BBC podcast and I'd like to tell you a bit about what goes into making one.

I'm Sadata Sese, an assistant commissioner of podcasts for BBC Sounds.

I pull a lot of levers to support a diverse range of podcasts on all sorts of subjects,

relationships, identity, comedy, even one that mixes poetry, music and inner city life.

So one day I'll be helping host develop their ideas, the next fact-checking, a feature,

And as all of this is going on, the Border Patrol agents are already close to us.

And one of them points a gun at him.

And keeps on telling him in broken Spanish to stop.

And Patrice lets go with his hand and just lets out a scream that I can still hear today.

And I'm just frozen.

It isn't just the fear or the guns.

It's that Javier was nine years old at the time. He was trying to cross from Mexico

into the United States, illegally obviously. He didn't have any family with him. He was with a

bunch of strangers and on so many levels it just shouldn't have happened.

But did you notice how beautifully he spoke about it?

There's this thing with Javier is he can make anything sound poetic,

even the most horrible things, and even when he's just chatting as we were,

it really shook me his story.
