My guest today is David Hogg. David is a Gun Violence Activist and a History Major at Harvard University. He rose to national prominence after surviving the mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in 2018. He is also the Co-Author of the New York Times Best Seller: #NeverAgain: A New Generation Draws the Line This episode is all about gun violence. Despite surviving a mass shooting, David feels and I agree that mass shootings get more attention than they should and that we should pay at least as much, if not more attention to the far greater number of people getting murdered in violent neighborhoods every day. David and I clash somewhat over the right approach to gun control. We spend a good deal of time arguing about whether it makes sense to have armed security guards in schools. 1:07.3	worried about right now is bias in the news. It's very difficult to find news
1:12.0	sources that are unbiased, that don't have a left wing or a right wing slant. But one of the
1:17.1	tools that I found most useful personally in waiting through this landscape of bias news is
1:23.3	called ground news. So ground news is a website and an app. And what it does is it basically takes
1:31.0	the top stories every day, gives a bunch of articles and analyzes them by their left wing or
1:38.0	right wing bias. So you can just go to Ground News as your main news source, look at a bunch of
1:43.6	different articles, and see how different
1:45.6	outlets on the left and the right are covering the same issue.
1:49.0	And one of my favorite features on ground news is called the Blind Spot.
1:53.9	What the Blind Spot does is it's a feed of stories that the left and the right are ignoring.
2:00.2	So every day there are a set of stories that the left wants to report are ignoring. So every day there are a set of stories
2:02.0	that the left wants to report on and the right wants to ignore and vice versa. And the blind spot
2:08.1	feature just lists all of these stories. And it's fascinating to look at which stories both
