Benedetto Chirallo, known for murdering fashion mogul Marizio Gucci in 1995,

is currently hospitalized in serious condition after a violent incident involving his son.

Chiralo aged 63 and originally from Sicily reportedly shot and wounded his 37-year-old son,

Gittano, following a hated argument at their rented country house near Pisa. After injuring his son,

Benedetto, turned the pistol on himself in an apparent suicide attempt. The incident occurred over the Easter holiday when Gittano visited his father in Santa Maria Almonte, where Churallo has been reciting for the past two years after completing his prison

sentence. Gittano managed to escape the scene in his car despite being wounded in the face.

Benedetto Churallo was convicted of the high-profile murder of Maurizio Gucci, the heir to the Gucci

fashion empire on March 27, 1995. Gucci was assassinated at his Milan office as part of a conspiracy

orchestrated by his former wife, Patrizia Regiani. Benedetto, previously a restaurant owner struggling with severe debt, was sentenced to 28 years

in prison for his role as the hitman in the Gucci murder. He was granted work release in

2017 and participated in a wine-producing project on Gorgona Island, a prison facility.

The story gained renewed international

attention in 2021 with the release of The House of Gucci, directed by Ridley Scott and starring

Lady Gaga and Adam Driver. The film detailed the internal family conflicts and the dramatic

events leading up to Maurizio Gucci's death. Patrizia Regiani, the mastermind behind Gucci's assassination, served 17 years in prison.

Notably, she, unlike the hitman, declined an offer of work release in 2011, famously stating,

I've never worked in my life and I don't intend to start now.
