| 0:44.0 | especially through the lens of Start-ups, which when I started 11 years ago, |
| 0:48.0 | investing in private market companies like Thumbtack, Robinhood and Uber, |
| 0:54.0 | they were staying private longer. Stay private longer. Stay private longer was what everybody |
| 1:00.0 | was saying, the private markets are more efficient than the public markets. |
| 1:04.0 | Something changed along the way. What changed, Beth, and what is changing today, |
| 1:10.0 | even more with SPACs and companies going public, kind of when we would be investing them |
| 1:16.0 | in private markets before they even have product market fit? |
| 1:20.0 | I think there are some pros and cons to that. The positives are what you said, |
| 1:36.0 | which is that the pricing is much better because it's so much earlier. |
| 1:40.0 | By the time that Robinhood or Coinbase or some of these other ones go to the |
| 1:44.0 | public markets, a lot of the returns are taken by the private markets and then, of course, the institutions. |
| 1:50.0 | SPACs are an interesting opportunity because now you have individual investors |
| 1:58.0 | that can get in very, very early into stories. But with that comes a new skill set |
