If crimes were high school clicks, art heists would be the impossibly cool rich kids.

They're objectively terrible, but we can't help but glamorize them for some weird reason,

and we want to know everything about them.

It might be because, unlike so many other crimes, there isn't a gross outfactor to an

art heist, and usually no one gets hurt.

The victims are broad and amorphous, museum boards composed of millionaires and people who

care about paintings, which is sadly less than you think.

They're basically stealing culture, and so you imagine art thieves are culture too.

Like in Oceans 8, they rob the Met, but they're impeccably dressed.

Exactly, and when you consider how hard it is to sell art on the black market, it kind

of seems like they're just doing it for attention.
