And Grant, I heard your conversation yesterday

about Alex Ovechkin

and what the capitals should do

and the decision they might have to make.

But we all don't know if he's going to come back. What are your thoughts on where he is right now? Yeah, good morning, fellas. What's up, Jeeps? One of those conversations that's just not fun to have. Yeah. You know, I'm playing hockey in the basement every morning with my son who's pretending to be Ovechkin, and I got more Ovi stuff on my walls than they probably have in the Caps Hall of Fame somewhere. But they're at a point, I think, where there's something of a crossroads this offseason. The cap has exploded in the NHL. They've got a lot of space with or without OV coming back. But if he weren't to come back, they could be a real player. And there's not a ton hitting the market. But in terms of trades, which in the NHL every offseason, some of the best talent in the league comes available, they could reload very quickly. They've done such a good job establishing a young core. And I think we're at a point we can dig deeper into this guys where

when he was gunning for the record it was a no-brainer to me he was going to break that record he needed

to do it in a cap sweater and it was an inevitability that he was going to get there but now that he's

done that i think the caps plans all along were hey he's got four years left three years years left, two years left on this deal. He'll get the record before it ends. And it's kind of this vision of like, all right, well, he's just going to hand us the keys. Grandpa's going to know at some point he can't keep getting behind the wheel. And now we're getting to this conversation to me where it's like, do we have to have that tough conversation? You're kind of hoping he was going to volunteer and say, hey, this is the end of the road.

I think there was some thought maybe before the season. He'd say this is last year. Then midway through the season, he'd say, I think this is it for me. Well, now we're coming down the stretch. He says he's going to make his decision in the off season. So our combo on the air yesterday was, what if he tells him he wants to come back for another year?
