In Northport, Florida, what initially appeared to be a

tragic case of suicide has now been revealed as something far more sinister. On January 26, 2025,

at approximately three in the morning, local police responded to a disturbing call on Halliday Street.

What they discovered would lead to the arrest of an 88-year-old man

for the murder of his wife. The victim, 76-year-old Miljaca Maxik was found lying in a pool of

blood inside her home. A 357 magnum revolver was placed in her left hand, a detail that would

after Miljaka's husband, Mirozlov, Maxik, claimed his wife had died by suicide. But the scene did not

add up. Investigators noticed several concerning details. Attempts had been made

poorly to clean up blood at the scene with a towel found above the victim's head. Perhaps most

tellingly, the gun was placed in Miljaca's left hand, despite her being right-handed. Information

provided by the same family friend who had shared dinner with the couple just

hours before the incident. The medical examiner's findings painted a disturbing picture. The autopsy

revealed not one but two gunshot wounds, one to the cheek and a fatal shot to the back of the head.

In a bizarre twist, the bullet was reportedly found in the same hand as the planted gun. A detail the medical

examiner noted was inconsistent with the path of the fatal projectile. When questioned by police,

Miroislav's behavior raised additional red flags. He was notably absent when officers first

arrived on the scene. When investigators finally spoke with him, his story reportedly changed

multiple times. According to ABC Action News, he appeared to be in a state of confusion.
