This is the Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Batchett with Thaddeus

McCutter, a veteran of the House of Representatives in the early years of the 21st

century. Representing Michigan's 11th Congressional District, he was a member of the leadership in the House of Representatives.

He served as chair of the Republican House Policy Committee, and therefore I come to him puzzled

about the present condition of the House of Representatives

Republican majority. Mr McCarthy was ousted very bluntly by a vote of eight Republicans and all of the Democrats in

the House who were voting. Mr. Scalise was then blunted by the same combination of different votes with the Democrats.

Now we're told Mr. Jordan is unacceptable to the Republicans so that if the

when the Democrats voted with them

there would be no speakership for Mr Jordan.

We're left now adrift.

This style works no matter who the name is next next next that is is there a solution to this

Do we get a speaker or do we go ahead without a speaker?

Well John it's very interesting.

I'm starting to think that when the gang of Gates,

those eight Republicans, got those 208 Democrats to vote with them to House Speaker McCarthy

that all those Democrats may not have had the Republican Party's

interested at heart. I'm just starting, it's just dawning on me because you know at first I thought this was a strategic

stroke of magnanimity of the Democrats to say hey let's get rid of Kevin McCarthy and

helped the Republicans out. Let's let's Rhino Hunt.. Let's make this all. Let's make this possible.

But they might have had ulterior motives that people like Mr Gates might not have thought of.

Because one of the things that Mr Gates and the other seven didn't think
