House Republicans' so-called big beautiful bill would increase the deficit by $2.4 trillion

over the next decade.

That's according to an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.

And it could complicate Senate Majority Leader John Thune's task of putting together a version

of the legislation

his divided conference would approve.

The figure also adds ammunition to Elon Musk's attacks on the package, who described

the bill in a post on X as a disgusting abomination that would bankrupt America.
