Welcome to Goop Tales. I'm Maria Kalinchini and I'm the author and the narrator at GoopTales

podcast and GoopTales.com. So I just wanted to do this short introduction to tell you what

goop tales is all about. The goops were

first created back at the turn of the century in 1904 by Gillette Burgess, and they're these

really funny and adorable and quirky little characters that each have the naughty habit or character trait of a child,

and therefore sometimes adults, and they're named after that character trait. So, for example,

there's one, the first one I do the story on is called Gablia, because she just gabbles and

gables and talks and talks when nobody's listening. And then there's another one

called Do Wano because he always says, I don't want to, whenever he doesn't want to do anything.

So there's 52 of the goops, and there's 26 boys and 26 girls. And I'm sure you're going to

recognize yourself in one or two of them.

And in goptails, what I do is I take these characters that were created by Gillette Burgess

and I write original stories around them.

So each goop has their own story and they go on an adventure to somewhere either fantastical or somewhere real in the world.

And when they go somewhere real in the world or even the fantasy place, all of the stories are

inspired by photos. So all of the stories are illustrated with actual photos from around the world.

And another aspect that I've built into this whole Goop Tales is,

I want to ignite the imagination of kids everywhere because they have the most amazing,

uninhibited imaginations. And I want to hear what they have to say. So what I do is I write and
