0:00.0 | Welcome to Goop Tales. I'm Maria Kalinchini and I'm the author and the narrator at GoopTales |
0:12.9 | podcast and GoopTales.com. So I just wanted to do this short introduction to tell you what |
0:20.6 | goop tales is all about. The goops were |
0:24.3 | first created back at the turn of the century in 1904 by Gillette Burgess, and they're these |
0:31.0 | really funny and adorable and quirky little characters that each have the naughty habit or character trait of a child, |
0:40.3 | and therefore sometimes adults, and they're named after that character trait. So, for example, |
0:46.6 | there's one, the first one I do the story on is called Gablia, because she just gabbles and |
0:51.3 | gables and talks and talks when nobody's listening. And then there's another one |

1:02.7 | So there's 52 of the goops, and there's 26 boys and 26 girls. And I'm sure you're going to |
1:09.7 | recognize yourself in one or two of them. |
1:12.7 | And in goptails, what I do is I take these characters that were created by Gillette Burgess |
1:17.5 | and I write original stories around them. |
1:21.3 | So each goop has their own story and they go on an adventure to somewhere either fantastical or somewhere real in the world. |
1:32.4 | And when they go somewhere real in the world or even the fantasy place, all of the stories are |
1:37.3 | inspired by photos. So all of the stories are illustrated with actual photos from around the world. |
1:45.2 | And you'll be able to see all these photos on that particular Goop's page on the website, |
1:50.9 | gooptails.com. |
1:52.7 | And another aspect that I've built into this whole Goop Tales is, |
1:57.5 | I want to ignite the imagination of kids everywhere because they have the most amazing, |
2:05.2 | uninhibited imaginations. And I want to hear what they have to say. So what I do is I write and |
2:13.5 | narrate the whole story on the website and on the podcast, But when you go to the Goops page on the website, |
... |
