Welcome to take time out of your week, to focus your mind and your heart on the crucifixion of

Jesus Christ of Nazareth is no small thing.

So we are intentional with you to put our minds and our hearts

on things that we don't fully understand in hopes that God might show himself to us and reveal to us the heart

of what happened on that hillside 2,000 years ago.

I don't know if you know what you stepped into tonight, but just a little context as we

focus our hearts on this Good Friday service on a Tuesday,

a little context for you is that tonight's going to be different.

It's going to feel different.

Normally on the weekends, when we gather to worship, we stand and sing songs together. Tonight, you should feel

no pressure to respond in traditional ways. You don't have to stand and sing. Normally on the

weekends when we gather, we preach and teach. Tonight's going to feel different and be different

than that. This is going to be a time of guided reflection.

It's going to be a time to consider and contemplate the truths of the scriptures. As we look deeply into the last sayings of Jesus Christ, as we look deeply into his last words in his final hours, we're going to look at them

in both Aramaic, which is the language that he spoke and in English, in hopes that through

these words, Jesus might speak to us here in this place tonight.

So with that as context, I would invite you to pray with me.

Let's pray together to start our time.

Father, we come to you with humility, with focus, with intentionality.

And we ask you to show us what it is we need to see.

God, we're here for revelation.

We're here to peek beyond
