Hello fellow rebel capitals hope you're well so the gold market is hitting all time highs

this begs the question is this the beginning of a bowl market or is this in a huge bubble that will come

crashing down? We've got to look at the data. We've got to look at how gold

performs historically in recessions which I think for most

of you watching would be your base case whether it's a hard landing soft landing whatever we just

have an economic contraction and then how gold

performs over the long run and during these period of time relative to other things

that you could invest in such such as silver, or such as the S&P 500.

So instead of just sitting here speculating on what makes gold go up, is it inflation, is it negative real rates and the inverse of the dollar whatever

Let's just actually look at the facts so what I want to do is oh, do I have the screen share going there?

So gold performance during stock market crashes and oh, looks like this chart from gold silver silver so my good buddy Mike Maloney we

Mike goes back to 1976 so we had a big decline there almost a bare market in the S&P 500. Now was that a recession now?

Let me pull up another charts. Let's do Fed Funds and this would have been 19, oh yes so 74 now we want in a

recession then we're coming out of a recession what wait a minute here what time frame does Mike have

76 to 78 okay so I guess this could have been a bare market wasn't a recession

but in this during this time frame, gold was up 53%, wow, talk about a negatively

correlated asset. That's what you want right there for sure.

And gold or silver surprisingly was up 15.

I would not have expected silver to go up because it has so much more of that industrial component to it.

Unfortunately, gold and pretty much everybody just got shellacked here 1980 so
