Welcome to the Feminet Podcast. This is Nancy Wilson. Thanks so much for joining me today.

Recently, I read through First Timothy, as you probably did two if you're on the BRC reading plan,

0:17.9

and I was struck by the word godliness, which it turns out, Paul uses eight

0:22.9

times in his letter. So I thought I would note those eight times and put a podcast together for you

0:29.3

on the topic of godliness. It's not a word we use or hear much these days. We don't describe people

0:36.2

as godly, even if they are, but it's a good word,

0:39.1

so maybe we should use it more. First, he tells us that godliness is profitable for all things,

That's in chapter 2, verse 2. Godliness is internal, but its fruit is external and manifest

1:37.1

itself in honesty. Another great word that we need to hear more often.

1:43.0

Honesty and truthfulness should govern all our work and all

1:47.5

our interactions with every living soul, our families, our neighbors, as well as strangers. We live in a

1:54.2

world that is far from godly or honest. We should be different, leading an honest life before God, no lying, no cheating,

2:03.1

no cutting corners. Honesty. In chapter 6, verses 10 and 11, we're told to run away from greediness

2:09.9

and the love of money and pursue godliness. We certainly don't drift into it. It has to be chased after, followed. It is the road we are on, our
