wordy expert used to work at Marion Webster and we are going to talk about words of the

year. Corey, welcome. Thank you so much for being here. Thanks so much for having me. You bet.

Oh, and I forgot to mention your book, Word by Word. The secrets of making the dictionary,

something like that. The secret life of dictionaries. But yeah, I mean close enough. Yeah.

It's not the same. Fabulous book because you were one of the people who write the dictionary,

right? Yeah, I was. I am. I still do. Oh, you do. Oh, fabulous. I do that. Yeah. What a

wonderful. Well, we're looking forward to your future books. But this one will have to hold

this over. And by the way, people, it would make a wonderful Christmas gift. I agree hardly.

So words of the year, I feel like this has become a major PR event for December.

Do you? It feels to me like it's become a bigger deal over the years. Is that just my impression

or do you do you feel like that's true, too? No, I do think that that's true. I mean, just so that

we have just for for disclosure purposes, I will say that I have worked for many dictionary

companies and in some of those companies, I've been a part of the Word of the Year team. So just

so everyone knows. But yeah, I do think that it's been it's been more and more. It does seem like

there's a huge PR push. And I think, you know, part of it is that the words of the year when they

first started happening, people just really loved them. They thought, oh, this is a great little

commentary on how the year has gone. And and everyone's got a different angle on how the year is

gone because we're all very different people. So it has it has gotten to be, I think, a bigger thing.

There's even sort of this this arms race of who releases their word first. And it's kind of like
