Summary

I spent about an hour with Matthew McConaughey in Bentonville AR at The Heartland Summit. We talked about acting, of course, but he really sat up straight when I started asking him about gun safety. He and his wife, Camila, are deeply invested in the issue and I am happy to share that progress is being made. So enjoy this conversation and share with folks who care about school safety or just have a big crush on Matthew.

0:53.5	This is Kelly Corrigan Wonders different. I had the honor of interviewing Matthew
1:16.6	McConaughey down in Bentonville, Arkansas as part of something called the
1:20.8	Heartland Summit, which is a Walton family project drawing attention
1:26.1	and resources to the states in the Heartland.
1:29.8	Matthew was there to talk about a project that he and his wife Camilla have been working on since the May
1:35.3	2022 shooting in Yuvaldi, Texas. I'm sure you remember it. A former student at the school fatally
1:42.2	shot 19 students and two teachers.
1:45.4	17 others were injured but survived.
1:48.3	We're going to start this week's go to with a clip
1:51.8	from Matthew's speech at the White House shortly after that shooting,
1:56.1	and then we'll join the conversation Matthew and I had on stage about his work in the wake of
2:01.9	that shooting, and also of course about movies.
