| 0:56.9 | Welcome. Hey, hey, hey. Oh, yeah. Good morning football. Welcome to Good Morning Football live in New York City. I'm Jamie Erdahl. There's Peter Schrager, Jason McCordy. Kyle Brandt, what's happening? How are you? P. Shraig's voice listed as probable. Going to stretch out on the field before the game. Peter, I like it. This is your flu game. Exactly. Let's put a bow on what happened in Baltimore in their backfield. Derek Lamar Jr. Henry, that's his middle name. It works now with the Baltimore Ravens. What do we make of Derek Lamar Jr., Henry Jr., excuse me, as a Baltimore Ravens. Derek Henry played against the Ravens in the 2019 divisional round and kicked their butt. |
| 1:03.3 | They then had the Pro Bowl and the entire Raven staff and front office got a chance to look at Derek Henry up close. And then they go to international play this year and Derek Henry still terrified then. |
| 1:07.9 | This was like a match made over the course of five years. It was just, |
| 1:11.7 | what is this specimen and how do we get our hands on him? Finally, Derek Henry is a Baltimore |
| 1:18.0 | Raven. After all those times they've played against each other and all those great games he's |
| 1:21.5 | had, I'll tell you, I love this fit. I love it for not only the team and the roster and for |
| 1:26.4 | Todd Munkin and for Lamar. I get caught into these cliches sometimes, but I love it for the city. I think that the way that Derek Henry plays, so tough, so big, just a brawling body and kind of a unicorn at the position these days. Now you get your scatbacks, you get your different type of all-purpose guys. Derek Henry, give me the ball, up the gut, and I'm going to run over somebody. And he does it with such grace and such power. I think this was a huge jolt for a team. They got to the AFC championship game and was knocking on the door. And if Lagerius Sneed doesn't knock the ball loose from Zay Flowers, we don't know what happens, but we do know this. In key moments, they abandoned the run altogether. They were throwing the ball in the second half. I don't know if they abandoned the run if they have Derek Henry in the backfield, who they know can pick up four yards, who we know can pick up five yards, who we know can throw a jump past touchdown, which is exactly what he did against them in the playoffs in 2019. Derek Henry has kicked the Ravens' butts time and time again. Now he's going to kick him up for them. I love this signing. It's a great fit. And at that price, look, Henry, 30-year-old running back, whatever he is, I understand it seems like it's not as much as Sequan, but at that price, it actually makes a lot of sense for both sides. Good siding, Baltimore. Great fit. And Kyle yesterday was giving us a little bit of trivia question, so I have one for you guys today. There have been two other Titans players that have played their entire career in Tennessee or Houston and then been able to go over to Baltimore in their 30s. Can you name those two players? Wow, I would have... He said... He said... Mr. Yes, Steve McNair. And one more. Derek Mason. Come on, I just love Peter. Come on. That's where Peter Cooks. Let's go! I knew you were going to get it. I love it. Those two guys did the same thing in their 30s going over to Baltimore having success. I look at this for Derek Henry. A lot of people look at this and say, without watching the film or watching what Derek Henry did this past year. Well, he's a running back who's falling off. Derek Henry led all running backs in Russia's attempted last year. He was second in rushing yards behind Christian McCaffrey. So don't just sit there and say something about this guy. He gets double-digit touchdowns. You feel like every single season. But I think to your point, Sharks, what he means to this offense and just the mentality and way he wins the ball, you're going to look in a backfield. There's going to be Derek Henry standing in the shotgun next to Lamar Jackson. And now when Lamar Jackson puts the ball in Derek Henry's gut, you've got to decide are you going downhill on Derek Henry, but risking the fact that Lamar pulls it and now he's getting on the edge. We saw a lot more from the passing game from Lamar Jackson last year with the addition of Zay Flowers. Odell Beckham Jr. still a free agent, so who knows whether he'll be back in the fold for them. But when you have a guy like Derek Henry to be able to hand the ball off and trust that he can get it done, it changes things. I look at this for Titans fans as well. And all right, AJ Brown was in his prime. He was coming up in a contract. You traded him to Philly. And you watched him go to Philly and just go off as a star receiver for them. Now, Derek Henry, I know they got a ton of mileage out of Derek Henry and a ton of success. But if you watch Derek Henry now go to Baltimore and they have a lot of success and And Derek Henry goes for over a thousand yards. |
| 4:31.1 | And their team that is playing at the end of the season has to be a sickening feeling of just seeing this type of God, what he's meant to that city, and now that he's moving on. And the fact that he's going to a great Baltimore Ravens team, to your point, that just couldn't get over the hump. I can't wait to see him in that uniform. I said yesterday, I wonder if is he going to go back to |
| 4:47.7 | his college number, that old school number two in the back field for the Baltimore Ravens. I mean, you look at what rap sheet talked about, Daniel Hunter, Derek Henry, both signing. I don't know if there's two guys that look better in a uniform than those two guys, arms, size, everything that they have, unbelievable. Total package. |
| 5:04.3 | A quick question, career-wise. So now he's |
| 5:06.4 | at this point in his career 30s. those two guys, arms, size, everything that they have, unbelievable. Total package. |
| 5:22.7 | Real quick question, career-wise. So now he's at this point in his career 30s. I'm sure there were other offers. He chooses Baltimore. Do you think that's because he's like, it's time for me to get my ring? Or is this not really in the heads of every player? I know you had a long journey before you finally got you. I definitely think it is. there's no guarantee no matter what team to go to that, I'm going to go get him. But I think you give yourself a chance and I think for Derek Henry, you're looking at it and you're like, all right, I was in Tennessee. Like a lot of my time there, we weren't winning many games. For Derek Henry, they felt like they were truly competing for a Super Bowl. And there's a different feeling on that team in that locker room where you're like, you know what? We have a legit chance to make it and actually win the Super Bowl. We have a quarterback who's a former MVP and Lamar Jackson two times. You have a shot. So I think that means a ton to him. And you're going to a really good organization knowing that they're doing it the right way. I still think he's got wheels left on him. I had that game in London and just watching him walk around where the team stayed, the Titans at the time. |
| 6:00.2 | He's not this guy that limbers around with like icebags on his knees and he walks into the production room looking all. |
| 6:05.0 | Like he still looks like he has years and miles left on those legs, which is great for the Ravens. |
| 6:10.6 | Did you see what our guys at Jimmy's seafood did fly? No. Jimmy's makes an offer and says, you know, we hope Derek Henry's coming to Baltimore. Then they up it and they say free crab cakes for life. Life. For life. For life. And he says, I'm pulling up for show. And then Jimmy says the king has spoken. |
| 6:28.2 | They all, they like committed. |
| 6:29.3 | It was a, it was an Instagram handshake. Okay. And now, I mean, Jimmy's, they might be out some money, but at least they got King Henry in Baltimore. I'm going to have some time off in the next few months. I'm going to have to make a trip to Baltimore during OTAs or something and go grab lunch. But you have to bring Derek to get the free grab. |
| 6:44.2 | Of course. |
| 6:45.0 | I'm going with him. |
