Amen. If you have your copy of the scripture,

I invite you to open it up to Mark's Gospel and we're going to study 20

verses today. Are you up for that? 20 verses. We're just going to kind of work

our way through these 20 verses and we're going to kind of

under this umbrella of us being story people and the power of stories especially

as we're in this Easter stretch where there is an openness, we all know this around us in your workplaces,

in the car pole line, in your gym, there is an openness to the gospel that is a little bit

uniquely different than the rest of the year

and I'm praying that God would send us out into that space with the stories of the gospel

alive in us and I'm praying the gospel is going to take a lot of new ground in the city of Atlanta over these next few weeks.

Amen to that.

So let's look at these first 20 verses of Mark chapter 5.

We're going to read all of it, then we'll go back and kind of work away through.

Beginning in verse 1, they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the garrisines.

And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat,

immediately there met him out of the tombs,

a man with an unclean spirit.

He lived among the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with the chain.

For he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart and he broke the shackles in pieces and no one had the strength to subdue him.
