My guest Gillian Jacob stars with Paul Rust in the new Netflix comedy Love. Before that,

she played Britta in community. So in some ways it's lucky that her time at Juilliard

put her off from pursuing a career in classical theater.

There is a kind of I guess acting school philosophy that you have to sort of reduce the

student to a pile of mush and then re-teach them everything they thought they knew about

acting and build them up again in your image. So by the time they leave they're supposed

to be a reassembled actor but now with a skill set that they didn't have when they came

in. But I felt like they kind of forgot to build me back up and kind of left me a pile

of mush.

How many other shows can they start Monday morning not knowing what the script is or what

the episode is about and yet not having mutiny?

about him called City of Gold. He wrote the definitive book on Los Angeles eateries

and won a Pulitzer for his criticism. But just to be clear that doesn't make him infallible.

I started a war between Northern and Southern California. I know you're from the mission

but I think the mission for it was just a monstrosity.
