Welcome back. It's the Big Blue Banter, New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier. Join us always my co-neclo. Nick Falado and we've got a lot to talk about today. The news came in when I was live recording beyond the box score fantasy football show and I dropped a little S-bomb on air when I heard it because it was caught off guard, though we expected this, I think, today,

you and I, Nick, as we discussed last night, but Brian Dable has been fired as head coach in New York Giants. What is your initial reaction, Nick Falado? Dan, I'm not shocked. I'm not shocked that Brian Dable was let go here. And I tweeted that right after the game. I was like, I would not be shocked if Brian Dable's not the head coach tomorrow. He's not. He's fired. Mike

Kafka got, I mean, we were kind of on top of this exact situation. Shane Bowen, not getting fired because it's going to be too much. And it's not surprising. There's just been comments dating back to the end of last year from ownership, from John Mareb being like, oh, I'm running out of patience at this point.

With all of the embarrassing losses and the blown leads at the 2025 New York Giants type experience, how can you be shocked? And then you had the report about Daibald almost

getting fired after the Denver game. And then this collapse, this 10 point collapse in Chicago.

I'm not surprised that he is gone. Now we're going to see what Mike

Kafka can do in this situation with his backup against the wall. I'm wondering what's going to

change specifically how much of that change will be reflected on the football field. I'm sure there

will be a lot of change to maybe the operation from a coaching perspective, maybe how practices run, meetings, things of that nature that we won't necessarily be able to see.

But when it comes to football on Sunday, I do wonder how much the offense will change.

I don't expect too many changes defensively since Shane Bowen is still employed.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing how the offense will change as well. Kafka gets his opportunity now to put his stamp on the offense. Yes, he's been calling the plays, but he's had Dable over him the entire time. And we know Dable's very, I don't know what the word is, but, you know, he has a big say on the offense. He had a say on the defense. He was overarching over everything. And now

this is Kafka's operation to run. And I've heard, and at least Conner Hughes reported that,

yeah, well, Shane Bowen will not be fired right now. It's a lot to do it first. It doesn't mean

Shane Bowen is safe the rest of the season. Kafka, that will be Kafka's call moving forward. He can make the decision to move on from Bowen after this next game if he likes to. And, you know, we never really knew where the Giants stood on Kafka, but we know now, right? They view him in high regard. He was asked, interviewed for multiple head coach openings, right, coveted to be an OC, the Giants blocked all

lateral moves. They would not allow another team to hire him as their offensive coordinator,
