I'm John Bachelor, and I read from Reuters because Judy's going to help me understand

the farm vote in Germany.

Germany's finance minister, Christian Lindner, took to stage, part of the coalition around

al-Lof Schultz, took to the stage in these last hours and front of thousands of

jeering farmers protesting against tax rises and he told him there was no more money for

further subsidies. Berlin has been brought to a near standstill by the

demonstration, filled one of its central avenues with trucks and tractors.

Ten thousand farmers arrived a cap a week of protest.

Judy, I'm familiar with similar protest tractor convoys in France.

Is this much the same thing? The subsidies are inadequate or

the farmers are unhappy with Olaf Schultz? How so? This is a very interesting question. There's a whole in the German budget because they used part of the post-Covid recovery funds and other funds to actually finance a big climate change ideas.

And the Constitution Court here in Germany said,

no, this is not allowed, and you have to go back to the join board,

and you actually are short of billions and billions of euros.

In fact, this is money you can't spend.

And part of this money was to actually continue subsidizing the farmers.
