Joined as always by my colleague from the Athletic Stuart Mandel, we are taping this on Wednesday afternoon a bunch of big

games after a really wild another wild Saturday and weekend last week's do but some carryover from from the big

Oregon win over Ohio State in terms of a little bit of maybe I don't know I'm not bending the rules but

using the rules to your advantage for the Ducks and Dan Lanning but it didn't take long I think it's were like about 72

hours later and college football has pivoted. Yeah I don't even know if I realized

it at the time during the game what Lanting had done but

and then he was asked about it on Monday night at a press conference whether that

was intentional to they took it 10 seconds left Ohio State's trying to get into field ball range.

Oregon takes the time out, and then coming out of the time out is a 12 men on the field

penalty. And I remember the broadcasters were, you know, looking at it like oh Oregon screwed up and it turns

out he did it on purpose it cost Ohio State because they ran the play it cost Ohio

State five seconds they got there their five yards, but obviously they

ended up running out of time at the end of the game. And so Lannings said, yeah, that's

something we've practiced and we've talked about it during the time out. And so it

didn't take long for the NCA to and I don't

know if I remember the NCA changing a rule in the middle of the season like this, but on

Wednesday, Steve Shaw, NCA Football Secretary Rules Editor, they issued an interpretation.

And basically going forward, if a defensive team has more than 11 players on the field in the final two minutes of a half, the other team can choose to

wind the clock back to where it was.

He would still get the five yards and you could reset the clock to where it was, which would
