often say that I'm excited about a show mainly because I have a lot of friends

who have excelled and done great things.

Today is, I guess, not too different, but I have somebody who knows me better than,

and we won't go down that path at all. But he's a really, really good

friend of mine. Somebody I met literally my first day at Morehouse College and none other than

Jeff Bennett.

How you doing my brother?

Hey man, it's great to be here with you.

I have been rooting for your success all along these last,

almost what, almost decade and a half man?

Yeah, 20, no,'s it yeah I met you in 2001.

Oh man that's 20 years.

Sorry you're getting old. It's funny though because we've seen each other in some interesting states. We'll call it that and now you get a chance to see each other as fathers and family men and husbands and trying to navigate this professional journey.

So it's pretty cool.

You know, I, what I'm glad to finally have you on the hot seat

where you're the one answering the questions.

But I usually start my show off by a lot of listeners want to know how you got to where you are.

So we ask you about the arc of your career.

And your career is being a journalist journalist.

You've done stints at NPR, New York One, C-SPAN, MSBC, and recently announced

you'll join PBS News Hours, their chief Washington correspondent.
