A worst-case scenario of famine is unfolding in Gaza.

That's what UN-backed food security initiative, the IPC, is warning in a new alert,

saying more than 20,000 children were admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition between April and mid-July.

British doctor Nick Maynard has been helping treat children in Gaza and sending video diaries to CNN.

There have been four newborn babies in the last couple of weeks who've died as a direct result of malnutrition.
