Jim Murray, Tim McCone, you're on an agenda-free Friday.

0:15.8

Chris Casper hanging out for an extra hour in studio as well, something he vowed to never do again after having to deal with a little bit of traffic today, which I completely understand. It's a pretty cushy gig you got there chiming in for an hour via Zoom on Fridays. I don't blame you. You know, it's also I just want to do what's right for the station, Jim. I mean, I could have internet issues. You know, it's true. Two hours. It's different than one. And so, you know, I wanted to come in for that. But just because, you know, with the two hour thing, you never know. Like there could be a breakdown with the internet. There could be some technical issue. So, you know. You're doing it for the greater good. I understand. Yeah, exactly. All right, Tim, why don't you reset what you opened up with in this column, puff piece, if you will, about Heim Bloom of the Boston Globe. Yeah, I just think it's a bad look for the Red Sox again. And look, Haim Bloom, I get you're trying to humanize yourself going into year four here, two last place finishes. But this was not the way to go about it. And some of the stuff in that article, too, I just think is, again, the Red Sox being tone deaf with this whole situation. one of the things, all, I'm losing sleep because of the stuff in that article too i just think is again the red sox being tone deaf with this whole situation one of the things i'm losing sleep because of the way that we perform with some of these losses and it's like i you are the one in charge that has the job to fix that and coming off of this off season i don't know how you can look at fans here and kind of look with a straight face and say that yeah i'm just as invested as you are or at least have done the best in my ability to create a winning product on the field because i just don't think that they have and chris i read it as almost like a tisk tisk job on behalf of like we all know it's john henry that owns the globe that owns the red sox and i think the timing of it is an attempt by ownership to shame certain elements of the fan base, those who booed at the winter fan fest, and those of us gargoyles here that, you know, do this for a living in general, who have written or spoken negatively about the crappy job that Haim has done. And it's like it paints him as, and I don't doubt it. Good guy, good dad, good husband, hard worker. He just think of this job. And it's just like, well, you know, now don't you see the human side of Heim Blum? Like, we get it. I'm sure he's a good guy. He blows at the job. He's in over his head. This isn't working. So, like, I just, it feels like the Red Sox are kind of trying to blame the media fans for creating this negative, this negative look at heim bloom and it's like no people just

2:18.4

hate the job he's done that's all like i'm sure he's not a bad guy so i can always speak on my experience

2:23.1

all my years with the globe the henry's bought the paper in 2013 no one has ever come to me and said

2:28.2

you have to write this or we're doing this you know stan has done these types of things before

2:33.0

he's ridden in the car with

2:35.1

Celtics guys with guys from the Bruins. He's done it. I'm trying to remember who he did it with.

2:39.9

I think he did it with Devin McCordy on the way into like training camp. So this is a type of

2:45.5

story that Stan does. And Stan can do it because he's a Pulitzer Prize winning photographer,

2:50.4

and he also can write. So it's a unique thing. Like not everybody can do it because he's a Pulitzer Prize winning photographer and he also can write.

2:51.7

So it's a unique thing. Like not everybody can do this. So I don't think. I know everyone's going to think that and we have to deal with that all the time at the globe. It's like there's a story in the Red Sox. We get beat. Oh, how can you get beat on your own team? There's a story in the Red Sox. We break it. oh, they fed it to you.

3:07.4

You know, it's like, I'll be honest with you.

3:08.9

Most of the time, I can't get John Henry

3:10.4

to respond to emails about the team that i send i think it's kind of like the dad that coaches his son or daughter in sports i think he's a lot harder on us then i mean did did you see any email exchanges he did one with Sean McAdam And he did one with Jen McCaffrey

3:25.8

Did you see one with any Globe reporters?

3:27.4

No, no, I know. Did you see any email exchanges? He did one with Sean McAdam. And he did one with Jen McCaffrey.

3:25.8

Did you see one with any Globe reporters? No, no. And I know Sean is here. He tried reaching out and there was no response. Okay. So I don't think that was it. Now, did the peace humanize Heim Bloom? Yeah. And I think that's probably why Heim agreed to it. but was it like a state-sponsored, you know, hit by the Henrys for the globe?

3:41.8

No, it wasn't.

3:43.0

The biggest issue the Red Sox have is, and I think Haim has this as well, as he keeps talking about a plan, but they can't articulate what that plan is. And I think they can't articulate what that plan is because that plan is really more about 2025 than it is about 2023 or 2024. And if they admit that, if they tell the truth, the business, and that's what the Red Sox are first and foremost at this point of business, craters. We're going to do this. It's going to be awesome. Yeah, so that's what you do. You keep holding out that carrot of hope. We're going to do this in 2025. It's going to be awesome. It's going to be awesome in 2025. Like that's the part that they're not telling you that they won't say. Because to me, Bloom's whole plan is just we're going to develop these players internally. We're going to sign them. It's going to be sustainable. it's going to be awesome and it's going to be great.

4:31.2

But it takes time to develop them and their best prospects, I think, aren't really close. Like Cassis is up now. Brian Beaux's up. But guys like Marcello Mayer, Miguel, I guess it's how does it pronounce Blass or Blis, whatever that, however that name is pronounced, those guys are still some years away. And so, but they can't admit that because if they admit that, then people stop showing up at the ballpark. That's their problem. It's not the media. It's not the narrative. And no one's talking about how it's not that they don't spend. Everybody knows that they spend money, John Henry. It's how you're spending the money that people have an issue with. And it's the
